To: Current and future softball families of Owatonna
I am Brian Pilcher, Head Softball Coach for Owatonna High School. As the head coach of the Owatonna Senior High School softball team, I am very excited for the future of Owatonna Softball. I have a passion for the sport of softball, and for creating a program that is consistent with the many programs at O.H.S. It is my goal to develop a long lasting and winning tradition for OHS Softball.
My vision is to create a program that will put our student athletes in a position to compete for Big Nine, section, and state titles on a yearly basis. In order to do this we need to develop a feeder program that is aligned with my vision. First, we will increase our participation levels from the ground up. Second, we will develop the fundamental skills and align them through-out the program. Finally, we will increase our competition levels to align with the needs of our student/athletes.
I have been working hard to establish a feeder program under the direction of our new booster club: “The Huskies Fast Pitch Club”, which supports our summer, fall, and dome-ball programs. Our High School program and Crush programs are dedicated to providing all softball players with the opportunity to develop skills of the game and to stress the principles of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. The Huskies Fast Pitch Club will work hand in hand with the Crush program (Our Top traveling softball program, under the Huskies Fast Pitch Club) to align with the philosophies of our Varsity coaching staff.
The Crush Program will begin its ninth year in 2018. In the past, the Crush teams have competed in the 14u, 16u, and 18u divisions in the Minnesota Fast Pitch League. Under my direction, the Owatonna Huskies softball teams and the Crush program will work together to teach players consistent softball skills, knowledge of the game, strong work ethics and sportsmanship. Our coaching staff will continue to help players who have committed themselves to playing the game of softball with the goal of playing high school and eventually college ball.
We look forward to the upcoming high school and summer seasons as the Huskies Fastpitch Club extends their reach to 1st-12th grade girls in providing introductory softball for our first time participants all the way through our travel programs that include U10, U12, U14, and U16 teams!
We play a fast paced, aggressive style of ball that is exciting for our girls to be a part of. We look forward to continuing to grow the program at youth levels all the way through the high school program, and there is no doubt we have outstanding athletes and parents that can help make this happen! Thank you for your support of the Huskies Fastpitch Club. As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
